As a London Blue Badge Tourist Guide & City of Westminster Guide, I have the dream job of accompanying families, friends, couples and workmates round London, whether they be first timers to the capital, returning travellers, or locals, looking for a helping hand to explore this city, or further afield.
However much time you have – a half day, full day, or a little longer: we can walk Westminster, Whitehall or the City of London; clamber over the Tower of London, where the famous and infamous steered the course of English history; revere Westminster Abbey or St Paul’s Cathedral, rival Valhalla’s of the nations’ dead; marvel in the majesty of royal palaces, Guard changes, traditions and (of course) tea; admire the art of our National Gallery, where every picture is a winner, or put a face to the faces of our cultural and political identity at the National Portrait Gallery; muse over the exhibits and timeless treasures of the British or Victoria & Albert Museums; see landmarks and highlights by car, coach, or public transport; or, travel along by boat, on the mighty River Thames, that bonds this city together.
Alternatively, right in the heart of this sprawling metropolis we can spend time in the villages, attractions, shops and pubs of Londoners: Marylebone; St John’s Wood; Chelsea; Mayfair; Bankside; Soho; Covent Garden; and Shoreditch & Spitalfields. Unique neighbourhoods, where history gives way to modernity.
But if you are looking to stretch your legs beyond the capital – let us go: Hampton Court Palace; Windsor Castle, Eton & Runnymede; Bath; Stonehenge; Salisbury; the Cotswolds; Oxford; Blenheim Palace & Bladon; and Stratford Upon Avon.
Join me for an enlightening and enjoyable day.
