Anthony Davis of Booksteps London Walks has a Master’s Degree from Oxford University in English Literature, and another from London University in History. He has a special interest in literature and architecture, especially from the eighteenth century and loves telling stories of the people involved. Anthony is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, the UK’s oldest learned society devoted to the material past and served on its Council as well as trustee of other charities in the heritage sector such as Chawton House, associated with Jane Austen. He has written books and articles including on bibliography and the history of books. He is a council member of The Bibliographical Society, the UK’s national society for the study of book history.
Anthony particularly specialises in walks which have a literary or bookish component. Many of his walks are illustrated with books and ephemera from the buildings seen or connected with the individuals heard about.
Anthony also organises walks for special interest groups and for the patrons’ organisations of charities from the UK and the US, especially those interested in books and literature. He regularly lectures bibliophile Societies and others in the UK and the US on book-related topics and book-collecting.
