Marylebone’s Respectable Radicals
Did you know that Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, did a bit of sleuthing himself and that novelist Charles Dickens ran a home for “fallen” women? On this walk, you will meet the dedicated men and women who fought injustice and campaigned to transform education, housing and health for the destitute poor, learn how Joseph Lister’s pioneering work on disinfecting wounds dramatically reduced deaths following surgery and find out how Madame Tussaud became a model maker.
Walks start at 10am, then run every hour until 4pm.
No need to book.
The walks are part of Local London Guiding Day. After exploring Westminster, why not join guides in Camden, the City of London, or Clerkenwell & Islington, for one of their walking tours. See https://locallondonguidingday.com/
